The procurement agenda

Following the ground-breaking reports by Latham and Egan, the national procurement strategy for local government, produced in 2003 by the ODPM, set out a framework for local authorities to strive for continuous improvements in value for money, through the development of a procurement process based on sustainable partnerships with all stakeholders.

All public sector contracting authorities have similarly taken up the challenge to deliver Best Value on building and maintenance programmes through improvements in procurement practices.

The LHC Network is helping its members to deliver such improvements by:

  • Offering instant access to Best Value framework arrangements
  • Advising on the implementation of supply chain partnerships
  • Facilitating the exchange of knowledge leading to best practice
  • Benchmarking performance to ensure continuous improvement
