Social sustainability has three aspects. The first addresses specific social policy agendas such as driving diversity and equality targets, use of local workforces with training opportunities and support for job-creation in regeneration areas.
Here, LHC Network excels in offering technically-assessed products of high quality, provided from nationally acclaimed companies but manufactured and fitted where possible by a local contractor employing local people. Many of the LHC Network companies have in place policies for introducing local training initiatives in association with LHC projects.
LHC Network’s appointed suppliers benefit from short term economic gains, whilst boosting long-term employment and sustainable prospects, through the development of new skills, work experience and a reputation for proven expertise in working with the public sector.
The second strand of social sustainability highlights the need for an employment strategy that allows for the use of a committed, skilled and adaptable workforce, working in an environment of zero accidents and incidents with appropriate arrangements for educating and training, employment, health and safety. All LHC Network appointed companies have excellent policies in place to sustain the quality of their businesses from this employment perspective.
Thirdly, it is crucial in social sustainability that work carried out causes minimum disruption to residents’ everyday lives. Under increasing pressure form Government to procure efficiently, residents are now more involved with property refurbishments and social housing specifiers.
The result of product options and work undertaken must contribute and does with LHC Network, to the development of safe, secure and decent living environments for residents.
