Incorporating environmental factors into spending and investment decisions, known as ‘green procurement’ aims to reduce damage to the environment and introduce human health benefits. It requires the analysis of what products are made of, where they have come from and who has made them.
LHC Network has a positive role in assisting public sector users to efficiently purchase sustainable building products and services.
Working with appointed suppliers for each product sector, LHC Network technical staff offer specialist advice on delivering sustainable building solutions, which considers the whole life performance of the building and the lowest possible environmental impact.
LHC Network encourages energy efficient solutions, incorporating ‘quick wins’ where possible to be included right at the beginning of a refurbishment project. And by using LHC Network, public sector specifiers can work towards the Government’s carbon neutral targets for social housing, schools and any public sector building.
As required by the Site Waste Management Plans Regulations 2008, all LHC Network appointed companies fully embrace initiatives for reducing and subsequently removing waste and packaging on site, including WRAP and SMARTwaste. They will work with the client to adapt waste recycling policies to suit particular needs.
