LHC Supports Government Commitment to Priority Schools Building
LHC has welcomed the Government’s £2bn whole capital funding programme to replace some of the worst school buildings in England and Wales.
LHC has welcomed the Government’s £2bn whole capital funding programme to replace some of the worst school buildings in England and Wales.
Priority School Building Programme (PSBP), launched by the Department for Education (DfE) will see £2bn of funding allocated to schools in England and Wales that are in the worst conditions.
The new privately financed scheme to provide school facilities will also take into account pressing cases of basic need, including the requirement for additional school places when selecting successful applications, expected to be announced in December 2011.
PSBP is part of the Government’s School Funding Reform plans to make school funding fairer, simpler and more efficient by increasing funds for school places and buildings. DfE is currently in consultation on reforming how schools receive these funds, in response to Sebastian James’ Review of Education Capital, published earlier this year.
Leading public sector procurement consortium, LHC believes its OJEU compliant pre-tendered framework arrangements and its extensive experience in the education sector can help to ensure PSPB work can begin on site quickly and be completed efficiently for the benefit of teachers and students across the UK.
LHC Director John Skivington commented: “These are all positive signs we are seeing from the government, showing their continued support towards development of the education sector, even when funding is tight. Cont/d…
“PSBP as a whole capital programme is great news to continue to build on the necessary school building work ongoing in England and Wales.
“LHC, through its compliant framework arrangements, is able to help provide the necessary building products and services so that successful schools can instantly benefit from the new funding. We also have the in-house technical expertise to offer advice to ensure the project in its entirety, runs on time and to budget, with minimum disruption to learning timetables.”
LHC offers a dedicated Education Contractors’ framework arrangement, alongside nine others covering elemental products and services, inclusive of aluminium, PVC-U and timber window and door profiles alongside insulation, roofing profiles and all associated services.
Each LHC framework arrangement offers best value, flexible contract options that meet robust specifications for building refurbishment and every one is developed to the latest technical, environmental and health and safety standards.
